Welcome to the official website of the Parish of Brailes.
Brailes' Post Office closure - updated 07/09/2008
Post Office Ltd. have now confirmed that the closure of Brailes' Post Office will go ahead - probably in November - when they have arranged for the outreach service to begin "serving the community". The options appear to be either a hosted service at either the Village Hall or the George Hotel, or the mobile office as referred to previously. At the (non-public) Village Hall Committee meeting to be held on Monday 8th September, a representative from "The Post Office" will attend to give a short talk on how the service will work, should the Village Hall be chosen as the host. We can take some little comfort from the fact that the closure of the Post Office Branch means that we can look forward to a vibrant refurbished and revamped Village Stores.

The parish covers an area of some eight square miles (approximately 5,100 acres, or 2,100 hectares), and has an approximate population of 1200 people.
We enjoy a rural setting - being situated on the edge of the cotswolds, in an area of outstanding natural beauty - but are well positioned for access to the motorway network, and therefore easy access to the major centres of commerce, which means that we are a thriving parish, with a heathly mix of new blood and the long established families and characters of Brailes.
